Reunion 2009: Luau in Blackfoot

We started doing an Eldon and Erma Perkes family reunion in 2005. It's always the last Saturday in July at the same park in Blackfoot. Even though our numbers have been getting smaller every year, this year was a good turn out, noted by the on-time (early some might say) arrival of Trudy and Vinn! And once all the sisters were there it was time to eat. Junior made some excellent ham and delicious potato salad, Terry brought her fabulous cake, and there was plenty of food for all.

After lunch (and the obligatory go-around-and-say-who-you-are) Sharon had a prize drawing for the kids and adults. Will was pretty excited for all these suckers;

the Hamms made out like bandits with both Eric's kids, Grant and Blake, winning something;

Debra is looking pretty pleased with winning the survival kit--

and Kim got the Grand Prize, a fabulous pitcher:

And for all the other kids there was the fishing pond, a yearly tradition that all the kids
anticipate as eagerly as Santa Clause. Perhaps not, but it's still the biggest attraction for the kids.

Once the food was settled and the fish pond dried up, it was time for softball, a long-standing tradition of Perkes Girls.

Even the sisters got their turn at bat:

The heat was bearing down and the kids needed something to cool them off. What better than a slip'n slide!

Some other pics from the day.

Lookin' forward to seeing everyone again next year!
